No sooner had he finished the "n" in Boston, when my wheels started turning. Hmm, a looong plane ride that meant catching up on many books that had been put off, sleeping in a beautiful hotel, eating delicious cuisine all by myself. Yep, I was sold.
Now the only thing that did not sound amazing was the price. The ticket was expensive, but in the end we decided it was worth it.
Which would have been a no brainer, had I known that I was going to get bumped on my return flight and paid $700 in Southwest vouchers to take a later flight to... you guessed it, read some more.
The good news is that all my "dreams about Boston" came true. I read till my eyes blurred, ate too much good food, walked the really cool bricked streets, and even had to buy a new dress and shoes on Newbury Street. Doesn't get much better than that.
However, we found that while we had a great time with just each other (it was kinda like a "working second honeymoon"-jk ;), we were still drawn to the things that our kids would have liked... like these guys.
The guy who juggled swords and the gal who looked like a real life statue.
And this really cool (and real life) statue of Paul Revere.
But eventually we got the hang of it and took pictures like adults.
Like of the amazing waterfront.
And the cool archways that you would find randomly throughout the city,
and Quincy Market.
Or how about the New North Meeting House (second church) that was built in 1714?
Ben even tried out what probably would have been our "box".
And we found some great places to eat... like Anthony's.
But every once in a while, the kid in us would come out to play.
Here's my new friend.
His name was John or Paul or something... ;)
And the one thing that we never came close to mastering,
was the self portrait. ;)
Au Revoire Boston,
but we hope to be back in '11...
with the kids. ;)
