Then this last Tuesday, he asked me again. So we found Anna's mom and I asked her if she had heard anything about a playdate with the 2 of them. Her mom, just as surprised as I was, said that Anna had been telling her the same, that she wanted to go to Ty's house.
So we set it up; everyone was happy and excited. That is, until Ty casually mentioned at dinner that some of the kids at school thought that he and Anna were going to kiss. Which now meant that Ty, Anna AND me get to have a playdate this Friday. I wonder what we all should play. ;) Again, everyone happy.
That is, until the next day. When I picked Ty up after school, he said, "Anna blamed me for putting Erik's lunch box on her's. But I didn't do it. Evan did.". I then asked if she was bothered and if she still wanted to play at our house. He just shrugged and said, "I-don't-know."
Oh son, welcome to the world of women.
One day they love you, the next day you're not so sure. ;)

As we filled out his March calendar today, and added "playdate with Anna", Ty got all excited about his playdate again and then we somehow got back on the subject of the lunch box. I asked Ty how he responded to Anna and he said he just told his teacher. And that she told him what to say to Anna.
Now that's a good woman.
And what was her stellar advice?
To say...
To say...
"I'm sorry, but I didn't do it."
Perfect.
A proper amount of empathy, while Ty still gets to keep his backbone.
Who says our educational system is going down the drain?!?

....let the records show that I was Tito's first kiss. (with a little wi time lingering in the background).
Sara, this is one of the cutest entries yet. Thanks so much for sharing. My first kiss was unexpected at the blackboard(does anyone know what that is?) in 1959 from Robbie Appleford. Does a girl ever forget her first kiss? 'Course then in later years I went on to date his best friend throughout high school, because that's how we roll!
